Two Months Old

I haven't really written at all since Caleb came home from the hospital, so I want to give a little update on Caleb, and add a lot of pictures :) Caleb is doing phenomenal. Our little man is such a champ. He had his two month check up about two weeks ago, weighing in at a hefty 12 lbs 13 oz, and 24 inches long. Needless to say, this kid is thriving! Starting to grow out of size 3 month clothes... not really sure where he gets that from ;) Caleb's progress is great, he has had no seizures since leaving the NICU. He is still on seizure meds, but they are not changing his doses so he is growing out of it, we are hoping he will be weaned off of them by the end of the year if all goes well. The neurologist is still concerned about him, so we go for an EEG at 3 months, and another neurology check up in December. Physically, they are thinking he will have some developmental delays. He has pretty serious head lag, and according to the doctors he could be 10 months old before he can sit up on his own. He is working with Early Intervention Specialists and physical therapists to see what we can do. But so far, he is hitting his other milestones. He started smiling at 5 weeks, rolling from his belly to his back at 7 weeks, and at about 9 weeks started cooing and making noises. He loves to watch Hailey, he gets such a big smile watching her be silly. She loves him so much, and is such a big helper. We have also started taking Caleb out in the past two or three weeks, although it is a little strange to be a part of the world again! Its amazing how much changes when you are home for 8 weeks! We know we still have a lot to deal with in this little boy's life, but we are so thankful for him. He is worth going through whatever lies ahead. He has brought so much joy in our lives, I just fall more and more in love with him every day. He is such a happy boy. That sweet little guy truly is our miracle baby. I do want to again thank everyone that has served us in the past few months. We have been given meals, gifts, babysitters, prayers, love and support. It is overwhelming to realize how many people love us and our children. It means so much to me. We are so blessed in our lives.

In other news in our lives, Hailey started preschool a few weeks ago! She absolutely loves it. Grandma and Grandpa Higgins sent her some new clothes and told her they were her new preschool clothes, and of course my very literal child won't wear anything but that outfit to school! What a goofball. She is so fun. And she is such a great big sister. Running diapers, getting him toys, picking out his clothes, and talking to him. Lately in the evenings during his fussy time, she will drop whatever she is doing and say, "Mom, I will stop playing and hold him. He just needs me to hold him so he can be happy!" So cute. I love these two little ones so much.

Blaine took his comprehensive exams a few weeks ago, and rocked them. These are the biggest tests of grad school, and passing them keeps him in the accelerated PhD program. He is doing great. Now he is just working on his research and getting his thesis written. We are so proud of him and all the hard work he does to provide for our family.

As for me, well just busy being a mom of two. They really do keep me busy!

Ok, and now for the part I know you are waiting for... way too many pictures of my cuties!! These are over the past two months.

Hailey loves to sit next to the swing to watch Caleb

First walk!

This is how Caleb spent our 2 hours in the waiting room at the Neurologist. It was awful! But at least he slept through it!

Hailey loves to baby clothes on all her stuffed animals

New big girl bike! She is so happy!

Grandma and Grandpa bought Hailey a new friend...

...and she insisted on it sleeping in her bed, even though it took up the whole bed!

Cousin Henry came for a visit! We were so excited to meet him!

I'm pretty sure Henry wanted to eat Caleb!

All the Higgins' grandbabies. Caleb and Henry are only 5 weeks apart!

Aunt Rachel took Hailey on the merry go round!

First day of preschool! She could hardly wait.

So smiley!
